2011 Land Rover Freelander 2 Review

2011 Land Rover Freelander 2
2011 Land Rover Freelander 2 will go on sale in the UK from the end of September, this year. The facelifted version of the model features a new 2.2 litre diesel engine with either 150PS or 190PS. The new turbo-diesel engine is available in the 4WD TD4 150PS version mated with manual transmission and intelligent Stop/Start technology as standard. The SD4 model with 190PS is available in automatic transmission only.

This means the 2011 Freelander 2 offers improved engine response and more mid-range strength for towing. The Freelander 150PS TD4 manual and automatic versions match the performance of their predecessors.

As an addition to the Freelander 2 range, Land Rover will also offer customers a 2WD derivative, available in the UK from January 2011. Land Rover managing director Phil Popham commented: “The new Freelander 2 eD4 moves Land Rover into the hugely popular and fiercely contested two wheel-drive SUV market,”
The interior features revised the instrument dials, four new seat styles with the option of a Premium Pack that includes Windsor Leather upholstery, an 8/6 way electric seat, plus premium carpet mats and covered centre stowage.

Since 2007, Land Rover has started the production of Freelander 2 at Halewood plant in Merseyside, England.

Most of Freelanders built at Halewood plant are sold to countries outside England.
Richard Else, director of Halewood operations, said that the increased sales of Freelander 2 in England and abroad has signified the importance of the vehicle.

A choice of 2 wheel-drive and 4 wheel-drive is offered on the 2011 Freelander 2.
New diesel engine is available in 4WD Land Rover TD4 150 hp model with manual transmission and intelligent Stop / Start technology standard (automatic, without the Stop / Start is available for the cost of the option), or a new model SD4 produces 190PS (available automatic transmission).
