2006 Nissan Murano

The 2006 Nissan Murano wears a revised grille, and SE models have brushed aluminum roof rails. LED tail lamps are installed, and SL and SE models come standard with the Rearview camera system. Nissan says the Murano's wraparound surface construction features a sloping hood line and a steeply raked windshield. Built on a 111.2-inch wheelbase, the Nissan Murano measures 187.6 inches long overall and stands 66.5 inches tall; it rides on 18-inch tires. High-intensity-discharge headlights and a sport-tuned suspension are installed on SE models. The split, folding rear seat reclines. SL and SE models have a 10-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support. An available Vehicle Dynamic Control electronic stability system can improve stability by controlling brake pressure and engine torque.

Dual-stage front airbags, side-impact airbags and side curtain-type airbags are standard. All-disc antilock brakes have brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution. Changes to the Nissan Murano for 2006 include revised exterior trim, a standard 7-inch LCD display, revised instrumentation and a standard rearview monitor for SL and SE models.

Nissan's crossover entrant is the stylish Nissan Murano and it's marketed as an "urban SUV." The Murano's spacious, cleanly styled interior provides seating for five. Aluminum trim graces the instrument panel, which features a monitor with integrated climate and audio controls. The Nissan Murano shares its platform with the Altima and Maxima sedans and, as such, boasts a four-wheel independent suspension. The Murano's sharp reflexes are complemented by Nissan's award-winning 3.5-liter V6, this time paired with a continuously variable transmissions (CVT).

The five-passenger Nissan Murano comes in three trim levels: base S, luxury-oriented SL and sporty SE. The S trim includes 18-inch wheels, cloth seating, dual-zone climate control, a CD player and steering wheel-mounted audio controls. The sole transmission choice is a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
This Nissan SUV comes with a comprehensive list of standard safety features, including four-wheel antilock disc brakes (supplemented by Brake Assist and Electronic Brake force Distribution); front seat-mounted side airbags, head-protecting side curtain airbags for all outboard occupants and active head restraints. A stability control system (dubbed Vehicle Dynamic Control) is optional on the SL and SE. In government crash tests, the 2006 Nissan Murano earned four stars (out of five) for driver and front-passenger protection in frontal impacts. In side-impact testing, it earned five stars for front-occupant protection and four stars for the rear.

Four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes with Brake Assist and Electronic Brake force distribution are standard, and an available Dynamic Control Package includes Vehicle Dynamic Control, traction control and a tire pressure monitor. 2006 Nissan Murano exterior updates include revised front grille and wheel designs, additional chrome accents, a brushed aluminum rear bumper protector, and new LED tail lamps. An Advanced Airbag System, enhanced instrumentation, illuminated steering wheel controls, MP3 audio capability, and a standard seven-inch LCD display are among the Nissan Murano's interior improvements.
